My research questions begin with how care is actually delivered: under time pressure, with variable infrastructure, across languages, and with limited room for confident mistakes.

Clinical grounding

Rural primary care at JIPMER

During a two-month residential posting at a primary health centre in Ramanathapuram, I shared alternate emergency coverage, conducted NCD clinics and camps, and referred patients to higher centres in a setting affected by medicine shortages and the absence of operative facilities. I worked with patients in Tamil and Hindi.

High-volume radiology at AIIMS New Delhi

I worked in emergency, inpatient and outpatient radiology for patients referred from across India, interpreting more than 200 examinations independently during emergency shifts, mostly CT and ultrasonography, through roughly a year of COVID-related duties and the transition from semi-digital to fully digital imaging.

What this changes about AI evaluation

A useful system must work with incomplete information, constrained referral capacity and uneven infrastructure. Evaluation therefore needs to examine more than headline accuracy: language, subgroup performance, critical omissions, clinician correction burden, privacy, interoperability and the ability to defer all affect whether a tool reduces or transfers clinical burden.
